The Lord has been teaching me a lot over these 3 months since coming home  He’s taught me about patience, a lesson we all looove to learn! 😉 He’s taught me that my mission field is my current location – wherever that may be, and that it doesn’t have to be some far off place to be able to step out and speak into the lives of those around me.  He’s taught me to trust Him more…with my life, and with His plan for my day to day walk with Him.  He’s taught me that if He’s put it on my heart to share how He’s moved in my life and around the world this past year, He will put into place more opportunities to do so than I could have ever done on my own.  He’s showed me that I can’t fix things on my own, it’s only through Him that things can change.  He’s showed me how true peace can only come from resting in Him.  He’s showed me His continued faithfulness and love.   He’s showed me how much He cares for each one of His children and His creatures.  And He continues to show me again and again the power of prayer.

About a week ago, my nephew’s cat, Teddy, was sick to the point where he hadn’t stood up for days and the vet said he most likely only had a few days left. Most of the time he would just lay there motionless.  He was taken to the vet in which the vet gave him medicine and said if he makes any improvements in 2 days then the medication is working.  After my sister got home, she set his crate down with the door open and left him inside to sleep.  My sister and nephew and I were getting ready to go in town, but before we left, I asked Ethan if he’d like to pray for Teddy with me.  Ethan came over to the crate and I asked if he wanted to pray or if he wanted me to..Ethan said he’d like to pray to himself.  After a minute, we both got up and started towards the door.  Only a moment passed before we saw Teddy walking around next to us!  We had to double check it wasn’t his brother, and after we confirmed it, we were stunned!  Teddy literally hadn’t gotten up in days, and now, just after praying for him, he was walking around!  What a gift to be able to see the Lord hear our prayers and answer them.  Sure, some could say this was a coincidence, but really, is there such a thing?

It makes you wonder what would happen if we always acted on these promptings from the Lord.  If we started praying for the sick, the broken, the discouraged when the Lord put it on our heart.  It makes you wonder if we don’t do it because we fear nothing will happen or if we fear that we will not be heard?  We seem to be alright with the idea of unanswered prayers because we understand that God has a different plan for us that we may not understand right now, however, to pray and have our prayers unheard is another issue.  That day reminded me of how much the Lord cares for each one of us more than we can POSSIBLY imagine, and He also cares for His little animals that He made more than we could comprehend.  It was a reminder that no matter how small or big our prayer requests are, He already knows them, He wants us to hand over our concerns, worries or burdens, and He wants to bring us peace in times of trial and uncertainty.  He wants to help our faith grow. It’s through moments like these that He shows us a little bit more about who He is.

On the race, we make acting on promptings a priority.  Or we try to at least.  I’d love to get back to that lifestyle.  Who knows what could happen?  Perhaps stories from the Bible wouldn’t seem so ‘once upon a time’…

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

**another amazing little side story for you…on our 3 hour car ride
home from the sand dunes, Ethan and I read the bible ENTIRE
time. literally, for 3 hours. everytime i took a break, he would say (in
a robot voice) ‘please keep reading the Bible, i want to read the whole
thing’ lol it was so cute and awesome that he was so drawn in, how
could i say no despite my eyes fighting the urge to close after being
out in the sun all week. a few days later someone asked how the car ride
was and he responded by saying he read the bible the whoooole tiime,
and “it was AAWESOME!” haha Man, God is so good.  My sister has done amazing at raising Eth to love the Lord and I am SO proud of her.  I cannot wait to see
how the Lord continues to move in His heart as He comes to know Him
more. I love it!!!
