So there I was
in Kenya
on a bus
from Nairobi
to Siaya (see-ah-ya),
sitting, bouncing, thinking, bouncing some more.
The supposed 5-hour bus ride to Siaya multiplied itself by two.
The roads are broken, bumpy and full of potholes.
It was quite a workout for my backside. Haha.
Even though the trip was longer than expected and tiresome,
God is good and got us to where we needed to go safely and securely.
As my team and I stepped off the bus, Pastor Joseph Osundwa and some other members of his church immediately greeted us. I cannot even tell you how welcoming they were (and still are). The way Pastor Joseph and his family take care of us and welcome us into their home has put a sense of belonging in my heart. I feel as though this is my family, my home.
Let me break it down this way.
Pastor Joseph and his wife Nellyne have four children, Jane Favour, Victor, Eugene, Israel and an adopted child, Maxwell. The seven of them live in one house. They have opened up their home to my team and I for the entire month. 14 people in one house! They consider it an honor to have us stay with them. They continue to bless us with their service. Not only do we have a roof over our heads for the month, we are being fed. This family is providing and preparing all of our meals for us. INCREDIBLE. I am overwhelmed on a daily basis because of the way they serve and love. Nellyne insisted upon doing all of our laundry today….such a lack of self that is beautiful and humbling. God is blessing my heart through this family. It is such an honor to sit and fellowship with these servants of the Lord. My thank you’s and asante sana’s are not enough to encompass the gratitude that fills my heart each day. So if you remember, please pray for this family. They moved to Siaya as missionaries from another part of Kenya. Pastor Jospeh felt called to this place, to serve and start a church. So, for the past three years, they have been in Siaya, preaching in Deliverance Church, bringing people to Christ, loving on children, blessing their neighbors, etc. The whole entire family is involved in ministry. Today, we went with Jane Favour to the children’s program. We got to play, dance, and sing with the children. It was the very BEST. These kids love to dance!!! They memorize scripture, they love to sing, they love to be loved on. I pray that these children would know the love of God and follow the way of Christ as they grow. Pray for this place and these people. The Spirit of the Lord is present here. Pastor Joseph and Pastor Daniel are prayer warriors who walk in the Spirit daily. They are men of God. On Thursday morning, the team went to the church for three hours of prayer. We prayed that God’s presence would fall down in this place. We prayed for Siaya. It was powerful.
Well. That is about all I have for now.
It has been raining a lot here. Pastor Daniel said it never rains this late in the season. My prayer is that the rain would not only water the earth. That it would be a spiritual rain. That the Spirit would rain down in this place.
It is good.
