Something I have loved this month is meeting all of these different contacts who are all so uniquely passionate about the furthering of God’s Kingdom. They have all been fired up about different needs and have sought different methods and ways of meeting those needs, both physically and spiritually.

What a beautiful picture of the body of Christ!

I want to share about a certain couple that caught my attention. They stood out from all the other contacts mostly because of how they loved one another. Something that I’ve only shared with a few is my desire for a husband who is passionate about me serving with him in ministry; not standing beside him just smiling, not connected to him because of our marriage, but serving with him side by side, hand in hand, together for the Kingdom. This seems like an obvious desire for someone who is where I am in life, but for some reason I’ve always been timid of sharing that because I have been timid of being let down if I made my desire known…but enough about me! I want to share about the Yalamov’s.

The very first email I sent to them, they returned with “we,” “our,” “us” and signed it together: “Blessings, Bozhidar and Nelly Yalamov.” When we arrived in Kazanlak, they arrived together with their daughter-in-law and her one month old baby. The phrase “family oriented” doesn’t hold a candle to the definition of family that they displayed. Everywhere we went – we went with the family. Everything that we discussed, we discussed not just with Bozhidar but with Nelly as well.

What a beautiful picture of the body of Christ!

Their ministry focuses on many different aspects: on feeding the hungry, preaching the Word to the thirsty, touching the untouchables, serving and aiding those who can’t serve or aide themselves… every ministry they have, they serve with together. Every ministry focuses on pairing physical and spiritual needs. They are so passionate about serving both the weaker members and the stronger members of their community.

What a beautiful picture of the body of Christ!

Any team who gets the opportunity to serve with the Yalamovs gets a chance to see how desperately this couple loves the Lord and each other. I am so excited for the teams who will partner and serve with them. I know that something they will take away from being there in Kazanlak is how beautifully God designed his church and the members in it to serve together, uplifting one another, and working as one unified unit to bring His Kingdom to those who do not know it, yet.

“For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, through many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body…For the body does not consist of one member but of many.” 1 Corinthians 12:12-14
