Hello friends and family!
I’m excited to let you know that I will be traveling to the Philippines in Feb for a 4 week mission trip. I’m really looking forward to returning to the Philippines. I will be embarking on this journey with my boyfriend, Delray. Even though this will be his first mission trip overseas, Delray is always helping people around him. He never hesitates to visit homeless people and help them anyway he can. Being around him and seeing how he lives his life day to day has shown me what it looks like to love others and minister to the people around you no matter where you are.
We are planning on beginning our trip in Cebu, Philippines working with an organization called Mercy in Action. We will be helping at a drop in center for kids who live on the street. They can come in and enjoy a hot meal, get tutoring for school, and just be in a safe and loving environment.
From there we will travel to Manila and spend a few days with the Gumba family. I previously worked with this family when I was in the Philippines and I am so excited to see them again! William Gumba is a Pastor of a Church in Navotas and he and his wife Mercy are so full of joy as they continue to work in one of the poorer villages in Manila. We will be able to help them with feeding programs for children, as well as outreach to the families who live under bridges and on the landfill.
After we leave Navotas we’re going to work with an anti-trafficking organization for a few days. We’ll be going into bars and ministering to women who are stuck in the sex trade. We will be able to offer them a safe place to live and a way out of that life through the organization we’ll be working with.
I need to raise $2500.00 for this trip. That will include all of my expenses such as plane ticket, housing, food, transportation, and hopefully some extra money to be able to help and bless the organizations that we’ll be partnering with. We are hoping to purchase our plane tickets in October which means that I need to raise $1400.00 in the next month. I hope that you’ll prayerfully consider donating to my mission trip. I know that God is going to provide for this trip as it has been clear that this is where He is guiding us. And where God guides, He always provides!
Another way that you can partner with me on this journey is by praying! Pray that we have boldness and willingness to carry out whatever plans God has for us there. The Philippines is a dark place spiritually and the spiritual warfare is non stop. I remember when I lived in the Philippines and being able to tell a difference when people were praying for me from back home. Prayer really makes a difference and is much needed!
