I’m leaving complacency in the DR. Galatians 5:12 says”it is for freedom you have been set free.”  If we are living in complacency, we are not living in freedom! God did not save you so you could live a tamed life.

Romans 6:8-11 “Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. 9 For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. 10 The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.
11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.”
When you read that, do you get it? If we are dead to sin as Christ is, we also live as He lives! For God and in freedom!! Jesus didn’t live tamed, He did live safe. He did things that took boldness! He knew who He was held accountable to and the freedom that was given to him!

I love 2 Kings chapter 1. Elijah says to the men sent by the ruler of Israel, “If I am a man of God, let fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty.” And that’s what happened. I used to love this encounter because I loved that Elijah knew his identity, “If I am a man of God…” But as I read it now, I reallly am drawn to the BOLDNESS HE HAS BECAUSE OF HIS IDENTITY!  He prayed a bold prayer because he knew who he was and who he belonged to. I WANT TO PRAY BOLD PRAYERS. Our God does things that are crazy!
He parted the Red Sea and used Moses to put His staff in the water. Don’t you think that took boldness on Moses’ part? Seems a little crazy…. But he was willing to be bold. In acts 5 people are laying out mats for the sick, hoping for the apostles to come by and just be in Peters SHADOW… Not just the physically sick, but the afflicted- meaning those who were dealing with spiritual darkness and verse 16 says ALL WERE HEALED. Theses were just the 12 disciples God used to heal people, there were so many more apostles! They didn’t make a difference by praying timid prayers or by wondering if God would show up faithfully…they did unreasonable things! They knew the authority they were given, WE were given and they were WILLING to step out in it! They were willing to contend for the impossible.
They didn’t live tame lives. I’m on the World Race and it seems risky and bold, but it’s only risky and bold if I allow it to be. Physical discomfort does not negate spiritual complacency!

Be bold. Pray boldly. Pray for healing! Ask God to give you words for people! Go places you’re not supposed to go! Talk to people you aren’t supposed to talk to! I want that kind of year…that kind of life! Jesus talked to the Samaritans, rose the dead, loved the adulterous woman, forgave the men who hammered nails through His hands AS HE WAS HANGING THERE. He fasted in the wilderness, fed 5000 men with 5 loaves of bread, what of that sounds like it came from timid prayers and complacency?

You say, “well, of course- that’s JESUS” my bible says in John 14:12, “whoever believes in me will do the works I do; and greater because I am going to the father.”
That sounds like permission to be bold!
You will be misunderstood, but so was Jesus, the apostles, John the Baptist,Esther…. The list goes on!
Be bold! You were created for a bold mission! Know your identity in Him and the boldness that calls you to! You were set free for freedom! Walk in that freedom boldly! Be done with complacency!

I hope you choose to leave complacency wherever you are this month, and pick up freedom to be bold instead! Let’s change the world. We won’t do anything by being timid. If you weren’t afraid, what would you do?

Do it.

With love,
Andie
