Life is a beautiful thing.

It’s a blessing, really. I’m amazed by the beauty I see everyday- in people… places… nature…so much beauty. God himself looked at what He created and He saw that it was “good.” What an amazing truth. You and I get to live in what our Creator created just for us. He placed His heart in everything we see. He covered the ground in life, He filled the ocean with beauty, He created the stars in the sky, the colors that fill the horizon as we awake and again as we end our day- to remind us that today will be and was beautiful.

That being said, I’m not oblivious to the challenges. We all have things to deal with. Hard things.  Relationships sometimes are hard, we lose people, things and a lot of hard situations come before us daily… Sometimes it tries our faith, it shakes us up… we might cry, get angry, feel lost, harden our hearts, become numb, or even attempt to place our security in our ourselves, jobs or other people… We all handle life differently.

It’s safe to say we all face sucky situations (am I allowed to say that? ) It’s hard. People and things (and ourselves!)-  all make life hard!!

Here’s a realization though: NONE OF THIS MATTERS. Eternity matters. That seems to be so easy to forget!

But really… none of this matters. I read the other day, in a blog Christine Caine wrote, here she said “Cancer is not terminal, life is.”

I thought that was beautifully worded. It can be true, not just for cancer, but any challenging situation.

What matters is not what happens to us in this life, but how we deal with it and where our faith lays.

There’s a Psalm that I’ve recently fell in love with. It speaks truth to the deepest part of me.

Psalm 73: 26 – really the whole book speaks to me. But verse 26- there’s so much beauty in it, so much security. The author is asking questions I think we all deal with- wondering why the wicked prosper…he’s having a heard time understanding life and people, but He goes back to realizing none of it matters…what happens in this life doesn’t matter.

“My flesh and heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart, my portion forever.”

1 Corinthians 7:31 talks about how the things of this world are temporary… and again 1 John 2:17  ” And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.”

This blog is turning to be a mesh of thoughts I suppose, but I hope it makes sense…

Whatever you’re worried about- don’t.

Matthew 6:25-34 READ IT.

Hebrews says the word of God is living and active! As you dive into it, you see the purity of Gods heart. His faithfulness, as He is the same- yesterday, today and forever…

Your trials, sickness, worries, battles- those things are not terminal. Life is terminal. So make the best of it while you can. Don’t waste your time being concerned about things that aren’t going to last. Anything to do with this world will merely pass away… you’re working to be temporarily satisfied… but rather, focus on the Kingdom of God, seeing His kingdom come to earth, seeing God’s heart change man’s heart, seeing His faithfulness, SHOWING His love….

Philippians 4:8 says “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”

What a beautiful reminder.

This week, I challenge you… Psalm 73:26 “My flesh and heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart, my portion forever.”  Make Him your strength and portion. He’s all that matters. Living in a world of desires, expectations and chaos- it can sometimes be hard to let Him be our strength and portion…

Let’s do this, together. As a body of Christ. Let’s encourage one another to focus on what is important. The things of this world are merely temporary.

With all the love in my heart,

Andie
