Running a Sold Out Race
“I have one desire now – to live a life of reckless abandon for the Lord, putting all my energy and strength into it.”
? Elisabeth Elliot, Through Gates of Splendor
I showed up to training camp with my hiking pack and day packed stuffed with all the things I thought I would need,my tent tied onto the back, and my heart ready to dig in. “I’m about to spend 13 days with 300 people who are as crazy as I am for God.” What an understatement. This week wasn’t about me being crazy for God, it was about God being crazy for me.
He showed me how He is fighting for our attention-for the attention of our generation, He is fighting for us! The sole reason being- He loves you. God has no hidden agenda, no hidden motive- He is driven to fight for you because His love for you is so big. Isn’t that amazing? He is so recklessly in love with you!
It’s rather beautiful. When you open your heart to receive His unhindered love, some kind of freedom takes over your heart. You learn He is safe. He longs to care for you, He longs to listen to your heart, to hear your hurts, and show you where He is/was in the midst of it all. “Where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom!”
I could say so much about this week. Instead, I will leave you with this:
We are in a broken world. We have been hurt, abandoned, left, talked about…we have cried, laughed, lost loved ones, dealt with pain and sickness…. But more importantly- WE HAVE BEEN BOUGHT WITH A PRICE, REDEEMED, FORGIVEN, HEALED…WE ARE LOVED BY THE CREATOR, WE ARE FOUGHT FOR BY THE HIGHEST KING! WE HAVE BEEN PURSUED BY THE PUREST HEART.
There is something majestic that takes place in your heart when you even begin to grasp this reality. It’s different than what we are shown… It can even be scary to trust… But it’s so worth it!
I’m calling you out! You say your a Christian? What does that mean? The world has redefined it as such a negative, easy term… So I ask you- what is it? How are you living in Christ? Or are you? If someone doesn’t know Christ and they look at your life- do they want to know Him? Can they see a difference? Christianity shouldn’t look boring to an unbeliever, because it’s the furthest thing from boring… It’s up to you and me to live it out and run the “Sold out” race! That’s when people will fall in love with Christ! Religion is boring! A relationship with Christ is not!
There’s a song by one if my favorite bands, Rend Collective- it’s called The Cost… It says “I’ve counted up the cost, and you are worth it”
What is He worth to you?
Is He worth living your life less about you? I invite you to run this race with me! We aren’t just going to run… We are going to run a sold out race!
I’m excited to hear what that looks like for you!
1 Corinthians 9:24 ESV
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.
