Hey everyone, my name is Andrea Wendel (I often go by Andi). I was on the January 2008 World Race Squad (whom I love dearly) and went around the world to discover who I am and who my God is. It has been quite the journey since then, and I am about to head back out for a second time to lead an incredible group of Racers in October 2009.

This thing we do–this thing of bringing Kingdom–to the places and people that so need it, has captured me. I live for it. I love that I get to walk out this life in such a way that I get to see God move in powerful and majestic ways daily. So that’s why I do this. Because God has shown up again and again and again in my life, and has whispered loudly on the inside of me that I am meant for more. And more. And more.

As for the insignificant details…

I grew up in a little suburb in Kentucky called Fort Thomas, right across the river from Cincinnati, Ohio. It is a great little town, where everyone knows everyone else. I have an incredible family, which includes my parents and brother. We are a tight-knit unit and I love them dearly.

I went to college at a small Christian school in Birmingham, Alabama, called Samford University, where I got my degree in graphic design. Samford is a great school that has grown me up, taught me a lot, and given me incredible friends. It was around my junior year that God really started to put a passion on my heart for missions. I had the awesome opportunity to go to Kenya one summer, which is where my love for Africa began. From that, God has really been shaping that love and expanding it to a love for all the nations and the peoples of the world.

And a few little random tidbits about me… I love the Andy Griffith Show and watching movies. I collect cookbooks and love looking through them (so they must have pictures). My favorite Saturday morning activity is sitting outside with my coffee and a book. I tend to decorate with lots of things from other countries. I love dogs. I love the rain. I love to travel. I love taking pictures. I love trees but I’m not necessarily a tree-hugger. Multi-grain Cheerios are my favorite. I enjoy being lost–it’s always an adventure. Cobblestone streets are amazing. I only use big spoons, not the small ones. I’ve fallen in love with Thailand and orange thai tea from 7/11.
