Hey everyone! Things here in Lesotho are going great! The first couple of nights we had stayed in the city because our ministry had another team and was not ready for us yet. My team is with two other teams so it is no longer all squad month.  Currently, we are up in the mountains. We took a six hour bus ride to a mountain village named Mokhotlong. It it very cute here and very safe!

I have another funny story to share with you guys this week!

So I was sitting in church having a really bad morning and I was just kinda sitting there annoyed so I decided to go outside and get some fresh air and go to the bathroom. Right next to the bathroom is a pen with a bunch of sheep inside so naturally I went to go look at them! As I was staring at them I noticed this one sheep in the very back that had fallen over completely on its side. If I sheep falls like that it cannot get back up and in some case they will die. Remembering this, I knew I needed to help it. This sheep was laying on this giant tube and so through the gate I found a large walking stick, stuck it in the tube and tried to move the tube around to give the sheep the momentum to get up. It was working for a bit and the sheep understood what I was doing but then the sheep gave up.

After that, I stood up and then I looked at the locks of the pen and realized it wasn’t even locked at all! So, I opened the gate and went inside the pen, closed the gate behind me, and started going towards the fallen sheep. Well apparently sheep are a bit smarter that I though because I did not realize that the gate behind me was not completely closed properly so when I did have my back turned to the gate about 20 sheep ran out of then pen! I went back to the gate and closed it properly then helped the fallen sheep back up.

Now that I had finished the task of helping the fallen sheep, I knew I needed to go herd the runaways…But I had no idea how to herd sheep. They all ran on this hill that I walked towards and I started yelling at them and chasing them. It didn’t work. I then saw some local kids and called them for help. I told them what happened and said they needed to go back. They all started whistling and the sheep knew right away that they needed to go back into the pen. So there they go back into the pen all 19 except for one stubborn sheep. It was on a big rock in front of the pen but refused to go back in. I then was so frustrated I yelled at the sheep, “GET BACK IN THERE,” and it worked. The stubborn guy ran back in. After that, I went back into church service and had a much better time.

With this experience, I have come to conclusion that sheep are really dumb. They fall over and can’t get back up, they all follow the crowd and run away, and lastly they are stubborn as heck and need to be yelled at sometimes. We are sheep. We are dumb and stubborn and yet when we stray God still pursues us. Just like parable of the lost sheep in Luke 15 God is going to chase after you!

Thanks for reading this crazy and random story! Ministry here is very fun! We have done a lot of building and I have given two sermons which is pretty cool! We have about two weeks here until and then we go to India! Pray for safe travels for my squad!
