Did you know that the Bible mentions the word pray 313 times? You can find it in the Old Testament 245 times and 68 times in the New Testament (KJV). There are 650 prayers listed and approximately 450 recorded answers to prayer in the Bible. The Bible also lists at least 9 main types if prayer: prayer of faith (James 5:15), prayer of agreement (also known as corporate prayer) (Acts 2:42), prayer of request (also known as petition or supplication) (Philippians 4:6), prayer of thanksgiving (Psalm 95:2-3), prayer of worship (Acts 13:2-3), prayer of consecration (also known as dedication) (Matthew 26:39), prayer of intercession (1 Timothy 2:1),  prayer of imprecation (Psalms 69), and praying in the Spirit (1 Corinthians 14:14-15). I wanted to share these with everyone, because these past few weeks, my squad mates and I decided to partner up with one person from our team in order to intercede for one another and pray together. So, I decided that I wanted to give a testimony about the power of prayer.

This week I am partnered up with a new person and let me tell you that from my experience with my last prayer partner, we definitely saw God’s hand at work. I love how God knows exactly what we need and when we need it. During our time praying together, God revealed areas in both my prayer partners life and my own where we needed to stand firm on God’s promises but also areas where we needed to make life changes in order to draw closer to the Lord. Needless to say, I am totally looking forward to what God plans to do in my new prayer partners life, the rest of my squad’s lives and in my own life as we prepare for the journey that is the World Race. It’s just amazing to see how complete strangers can come together in the name of the Lord, supporting and loving one another in their time of need. I just can’t with Jesus sometimes. He is God of abundance and overflow. Even when we are in the midst of our own storms, it’s amazing to be able to give Him all the honor, glory and praise for His goodness!

This morning, my old prayer partner and I got on the phone at 6 A.M. to pray for each other and our squad. It seems that recently, there have been attacks on each of us that the enemy is using to attempt to deter our path and break our faith. BUT GOD is ever so faithful and we know that when we stand united and “where two or three are gathered together in My name, there am I in the midst of them.” Matthew 18:20.

Through Christ alone, all things are possible.

I honestly, just love how God works and how He proves to us that regardless of our circumstance, whatever season we find ourselves in, and all the troubles burdening our hearts, a simple prayer or cry to Jesus, is all it takes to lift our spirits and know that we are not meant to be in control. His plan and purpose for each of our lives always prevails.

Today, I just hope and pray that wherever you find yourself in this moment, whatever is troubling your heart, mind and soul, that you find rest in Jesus and surrender. Get on your knees and give it all to Him. Lay it all down at His feet and let Him be your comforter. There is power in prayer y’all!

“Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
