Hola!
I am so, so thankful for all of the continued support and prayers!! We have been in the beautiful Granada, Nicaragua for about two weeks. The people of Nicaragua are kind, relational, and welcoming. The mountains are absolutely beautiful and make me think of home! We are working with an organization called, Reap Granada. The organization hosts community sports events to build relationships and share the love of Jesus. It is also located on a farm and creates jobs for local people. Reap does many things to get involved in the community, such as prayer walking, going to visit people in prison, providing food for people, visiting the nursing home, and visiting the hospital. I have enjoyed staying at Reap Granada and learning from everyone! So far my team has gone on prayer walks, farmed, and gone to the nursing home. We have also helped paint the basketball court, where they have tournaments each weekend at Reap Granada. One thing I have learned is that without love we really don’t have anything. We can do all of the good deeds in the world, but without love it does not make as much of an impact. We can have all of the things in the world, but if we do not have love we have nothing. I have witnessed a lot of physical poverty throughout my life and in these past two weeks. I have also witnessed beautiful joy these past two weeks. There are people in the world that may appear to not have many physical things, but they have what matters. They have love and they share it. In turn, they have joy. We met a beautiful lady on a prayer walk. She has been through a lot and has lived a lot of years. She said her strength is in Jesus. We asked her to give us advice about life. She told us, “You can have a very small heart, but all that matters is that it is filled with love.”
If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails
-1 Corinthians 13:1-8
