It was another day of ministry. We were going into the city of Kathmandu to share God’s love at one of the Buddhist temples.
When I was praying to God to see what He wanted us to do there, He gave me an image of us giving out flowers to the women there and saying “you are beautiful and you are so loved by Jesus.”
I told my team what I had seen before we left and they challenged me in faith by saying instead of buying flowers, why don’t we wait and see how God provides the flowers. I was encouraged to see how the Lord would surprise us.
So we got to the temple and the first thing I find was a sunflower on the ground. Although, it was dirty and beat up, my teammate Jenni encouraged me to pick it up and hold on to it. I thought while looking at it “God, will someone want this dirty flower? Is this flower idea really what you want?” He said “yes
At this point, I began to ask Him who, then, I should give it to. We came across this older woman sitting at the corner of the temple, and I felt I should give it to her. When I did, she lit up with the biggest smile on her face and showcased the flower behind her ear. It was so amazing to see what Jesus could do through a dirty flower.
I was ready for more! I asked God to give us more flowers. As I turned the corner of where we were, we stumbled across a bunch of flowers on the floor. These ones were bright, beautiful and intact. I quickly picked them up and prayed over them. I asked The Lord to bless these flowers and bless the people we would give them to.
I shared some with my team so they too could give them out. Through out the day, a big, beautiful smile crossed the women’s faces who received a flower. The Holy Spirit led us in conversations with some of the women.
One woman I met, was a vendor at the temple. She was so happy to talk to me. She told me all about her daughter and how this flower was like a valentine gift to her. She was the sweetest.
The Lord has a plan for all of His children who don’t know Him. It is our choice to partner with Him in what He is doing or not. I could have chosen to ignore what I thought was just my imagination and not have given out the flowers but I did. I chose to go out on a limb and try it, even if I wasn’t a 100% sure how it was going to turn out. I have come to learn that when you begin to do the things that seem radical and you have no idea how they come to your mind, you begin to realize it’s the the Holy Spirit speaking to you. When you truly listen and do as He says, the outcome is beautiful and fulfilling.
I chose to parter with Jesus here in Nepal and He has been faithful to show me what His desires for His people of Kathmandu are. Jesus loves each Nepali, and He has called me to love them and to tell them how much He loves them.
He thinks you are beautiful and worthy for His plans. You haven’t messed up too bad, it’s not too late for you. He doesn’t see any of His creation as the dirty, beat up flower that the world may see us as. He can use you even when you feel unqualified because His love surpasses all iniquities and makes all things new, you just have to chose Him.
Will you partner with Jesus ? Are you willing to let go of your agenda each day and instead ask Jesus to be a part of what He is doing ?
I promise you, when you begin to do what the Holy Spirit is doing (which is most likely out of your comfort zone) your walk with Jesus will turn into a thrilling adventure. Lean into the Holy Spirit, He has much to say to you and much to show you. It is much better than anything we could have imagined.
