For as long as I can remember, my mother has been excitedly anticipating the day I graduate college. I can’t tell you how many times I have heard her telling everyone, “One day my little Peanut will be a brain surgeon!” I graduated high school with huge expectations of college and of myself. However, since graduating high school three years ago, I have found that choosing a career that will cost me 5 years and $50,000 is a difficult task at such a young age! As I took on the task of accomplishing my academic goals I quickly realized that preforming brain surgery was not the work I was called to.

Over the past few years I have been involved in several different benevolence ministries and the Lord has really cultivated in me a heart of compassion and ministry to his broken people. For a long time I have sensed that God wants me to trust him in a new way and to commit to full time ministry overseas. After countless nights of prayer and research, I was reminded of the World Race. I spent hours on the website and, finally, I applied and was accepted!

The World Race is an 11 month Christian mission trip to 11 countries around the world. One of the unique things about the World Race is that it is not only a mission trip, but also an intensive discipleship program designed to launch my generation into our specific kingdom calling. Through the World Race my team mates and I will serve in partnership with churches and ministries to local communities to preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to women and children trapped in prostitution, and bring the restorative hope of the Father’s love to many tribes and nations.

I will face many challenges and trials throughout the World Race, but as I prepare for my departure, one of my greatest challenges is raising financial support. Like most other missions organizations, World Race participants are required to raise financial support. In order to leave fully funded in July 2015, I need to raise $15,500. This money will cover all of my field expenses for the 11 month trip. As I take this large step of faith in trusting the Lord, would you please prayerfully consider joining me by committing to send a one-time gift of $100, a monthly gift of $50, or another amount?

The other day I overheard my mother telling our family, “In July 2015 my little Peanut will be leaving as a missionary on the World Race!” I had to cover my face to keep from crying tears of joy! This is the work of the Lord in my life and I am overwhelmingly blessed to have the opportunity to pursue his will! I will be posting updates, points of prayer, and an updated fund raising count on my blog at amywilliams.theworldrace.org.  Please join me any way you can!

In Christ,

Amy
