Dear friends and family,
I am writing this letter to share with you the next opportunity that God has opened up for me. After much prayer and thought, I have decided to go share the name of Jesus on an 11 month Christian mission trip called The World Race. The World Race is a part of Adventure in Missions, a mission organization that has sent over 100,000 people into the mission field since 1989. The World Race goes to 11 countries in 11 months, reaching a variety of peoples and cultures, and answering the call to share the Good News to all nations. I will be leaving in August 2016 to go to Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, Jamaica, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica. My team and I will be partnering with local churches and ministries in these countries to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of people in these areas. I am so excited to travel to these awesome places and get to know the amazing people that live in them!
I believe deeply in the power of the Good News of Jesus Christ and my calling as a Christian to share the Gospel to all nations. Luke 10:2 says, “ The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Many are called to support these workers by giving, and some are called to actually go out into the harvest. God has placed it on my heart to fulfill this verse and go out into the world to bring hope and joy through the name of Jesus. On The World Race, I will be living a life of simplicity. All of my possessions will be contained in a backpack, which I will take everywhere. I will experience deep and intimate community with a small number of teammates. I will minister to kids, adults, and the elderly, along with spending time with the poor, sick, and least of these. I will spend time praying, playing, feeding, serving, building, talking, and encouraging people in the lowest strata of their social system.
This is where you come in! Obviously, I cannot do any of this without support. Prayer is an immensely powerful and beautiful thing. Another part of this trip is fundraising. The total cost of the trip is $16,817. I know what you are thinking, “Woah, that is a lot of money”; however, this cost covers all my flights, travel expenses, sleeping arrangements, training, food, and other necessities overseas. I fully believe that when God calls you to something, He always provides. I trust Him to supply all my needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus. By supporting me on The World Race, you get to play a part in God’s grand plan here on Earth. You may not feel like you are making a huge impact by supporting me, but your generosity is significant. Trust that many will be blessed through your support!
