Welcome to Malaysia. Here it’s a little different. 61% of the country is Muslim and our life looks a little different. In Malaysia, wearing my World Race shirt is not recommended. The bracelet I’ve worn from one my kids in India is sitting in my bag since it has scripture on it. We pray with our eyes open as if we are having a conversation with each other. The mention of Jesus comes out of our months in terms like Papa or Father. We don’t pray here, we “yarp.” We are only teachers teaching English for the month. Our faith takes the back seat outwardly, but our actions, smiles and words shed love on the community we live in and the people we meet. We are light without words. We are Jesus in a sea of people that don’t yet know him.
This month is a great chance to act as God would without proclaiming faith. But we see Him here, we feel Him here. Let your light shine 🙂
"Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn." ~Isaiah 60:1-3
