La Bienvenida de Puerto Barrios!
My team, Adelphoi, has made it safely to our location here in Guatemala and we have been busy with our ministry! This month we are with 2 other World Race teams, Petrochor and Dependent by Faith, as well as 2 DTS Outreach teams and we have taken over Casa Verde
** Our house, Casa Blanca, Casa Verde’s newest addition
God is doing amazing things here in our first week; I’m excited to see how the rest of the month will go. The ministry we are working with, Ministerio Casa Verde, has a great presence in Puerto Barrios. Paul and Hilda, the couple who founded Casa Verde, are amazing servants of God. They truly have a heart for the people of Guatemala and they continue to amaze me with their works and prayerful persistence.
The Promised Land: We spent time on Sunday walking around the land that Paul and Hilda are currently renting (where our house is), blessing and praying over the land. They both have a calling from God to start a kid’s camp and this is the perfect place! The current owner has a pretty high price tag, but we as a team feel great peace about the “promised land” and can’t wait to see how God will continue to work thru this ministry and bring them the necessary bits to keep it going ๐

I’m excited to continue digging into the ministries here and continue building relationships with those that we meet. So far we have been able to help out at a school, and do park ministry, play BINGO at a nursing home, serve food to families that work and live in the city dump, visit kids at the children’s hospital and pray with those that live around Casa Verde.
School Ministry: At the school we’ve helped paint, clean, and landscape; lots of good time in the sun helping out others.
** Painting party at the school
** Julie, Jade and I staying hydrated
** Most of us at the school (we missed you Edwin)
Park Ministry: The park is an amazing opportunity to build relationships with people in the two towns welive between. A few of us set up a big game of futbol and I do have to say my skills weren’t that rusty, I even impressed myself a few times (I guess I can’t leave out that the chicos were between the ages of 5 and 18…. But who’s counting!)
** GOAL!!! These kids were so good at futbol
** Hermanos, Christian (in the yellow) and Angel.
City Dump Ministry: Words truly can’t describe the city dump, but know that your ability to even read this post is a huge blessing. These families live in and around the dump and work here everyday for scrapes to sell in order to bring home a little money. Most of their meals come from people’s trash. Most of their clothes come from peoples trash. But their joy is CONTAGIOUS! I can’t wait to spend next week with my new “family” working with them and then spending time with them on Thursday providing a hot meal ๐

** So precious!
Here’s to an amazing month with God at the center! Prayers for the ministry are greatly appreciated
