Ya…you wonder what a typical day off is like for a world racer – far from boring! We decided to hike up yet another live volcano…this one didn’t have the lava flowing from it, but had recently spewed out pieces of lava and shook…crazy, yes, but people hike up it all the time, so we decided to go for it. We had met an English speaker-tour guide at one of our outreaches, so he took us up it!
Looking up from about halfway- at least 2 hrs to go!
Enjoying an AMAZING view of the island and Lake Nicaragua!

Alissa enjoying a little break, this gives you an idea of the crazy 45% angle we had to climb- through slippery rocks and dry lava.
Leah and I taking it all in!!

Conquered!! Here I am at the rim…woohoo! The winds, fog, and sulfur fumes were very strong…so the guide took us up the last few yards one at a time! CONCEPION Volcano- 1610 meters up, 10 hrs up and back b/c of having to walk so carefully for about half of it!
