Last night my team went to the home of some people from one of the churches in the community. I’ll never forget the sight when I walked in. The entire family was there, kids, grandkids, moms, dads, brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles, and in the middle of the living room there was a hospital bed with a woman in it. Her name was Elizabeth and she had been struggling with cancer for a while; she was in her last stages and the family knew it was towards the end.
Our team was invited there to pray for Elizabeth and her family so that’s exactly what we did. The presence of God was right in the room with us and it was so evident. It was one of those times when I felt like He was standing right next to me holding my hand and doing the exact same thing for everyone else. We were able to speak some encouraging words to the family that Elizabeth will be healed whether it be in this life or the next and that she will stand face to face with Jesus with a completely new body healed of all disease. The family was very encouraged by our prayers, we told them we would keep praying and went on our way.
We woke up this morning to a text message from the pastor saying that Elizabeth passed away last night after we had left.
My heart first broke for the family who had to say goodbye, but then God filled me with so much joy. Elizabeth is healed! She is standing face to face with Jesus right now, rejoicing with the Angels, jumping up and down, smiling, laughing, and the best part is that she has a brand new body that is completely clean!
The Bible says that when we cry out God hears us. He heard our cry last night and he answered according to His plan which is perfect. There is so much power in that because when we pray we commune with God and He hears and answers us. We may not always understand His purposes and the ways in which He answers us but the best thing we can do in trying times is draw closer to Him, and that is exactly what I saw Elizabeth’s family doing.
I want to encourage each and everyone of you, if you are going through a time of trial and tribulation, know that God’s plan is perfect and He will bring all things together for His glory, draw closer to Him and never stop praying.
“Blessed is he one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that The Lord has promised to those who love Him”.
