Today we started our morning with prayer and praise with our contact, Janet. She is a wise woman and praises God all day long. It is infectious and also a challenge to find ways to praise him all day long. When we were talking Janet said, “it’s not about the sacrifice but our obedience”. I can’t get those words out of my head. Preparing for the World Race, I felt God calling me to sacrifice my job, students, friends, family, and comforts of home to follow him. I felt as though he wrote the word sacrifice across my chest, but when Janet said those words, I realized that it wasn’t about letting go or loosing those things. It’s in obedience I gave up those things and followed after God. Even in our back pack we have more than enough, and if I lost that would that be a sacrifice? probably not. God gives us everything. A mini revelation this morning.
Even when things don’t seem easy or worth it, if we are following God in obedience it will be worth it in the end. Community and communication isn’t always going to be easy, but our team has also seen God moving so much in us since arriving just two days ago.
We are in Bukit, Malaysia staying at the House of Timothy. We will be doing a lot of different things. We really don’t have a set plan in front of us, but we go and do whatever we can. We will be working in a school for special needs children, working with at risk teens, going to an Indian school, praying with Burmese refugees, and painting a mural. One day we may go into the jungle and meet up with the people there. Then we will once again meet up with Team Gozo and work with them for our final week in Malaysia.
(We have limited internet right now, and it is slow…so no pictures this time.)
