Our mission: to go prayer walk around a large Hindu temple.
Cost: 500 Rupies/person or $7USD/person. 13 people in our group (not within our budget).
We tried to walk around and sneak in, but we didn’t have tickets and got kicked out. It was raining, and we didn’t know what to do. It took us about 45 minutes to get there and we couldn’t just leave. We had walked passed an elderly home on the way in, and we came to pray. We all were excited to go see the elderly people. I love old people and I think they are so beautiful.
We walked in and the men and women were sitting out working on making cotton threads (I am not really sure what they were doing). I asked this beautiful woman if I could take her picture and she gently shook her head and smiled. I took her picture and showed it to her and that was when love spoke. She grabbed my hands and laid her head on it. She radiated joy without words. We all wanted pictures with her. As we sat with her another woman grabbed each of us and hugged us, kissed us, and didn’t want to let go. There were about five of us who took turns giving love and receiving love. It was so beautiful. As we walked away, I looked back to see her wiping tears from her eyes.
When was the last time she was hugged or held?
It always amazes me that no matter what language you speak, love is universal. It ended up being one of the best days. We all walked away filled with so much joy, and we are planning to go back to pray, play music, and just spend time with them.
