I really had meant to be writing a blog every week, and I have fallen behind. I’m not trying to make excuses, but it is hard to write about anything when everything feels the same. Every day I have my routine and it is a bit monotonous. The only new thing is that we have started practicing for Christmas in choir and for the Sunday school program. It feels so far away, but closer than it seems.
The kids are getting so excited already, and I’m loving the music! I have the youth helping me dig through the costumes (should have gotten good pictures of that! Too much fun and memories!) and we get to paint the background for the program. The younger students are memorizing lines, and learning new songs. They are so much fun!
The race feels kind of like Christmas. It feels so far away, almost like before I applied and was dreaming of it, but thought it would never happen. But at school last week, we were talking about Christmas and everyone was saying how it isn’t Christmas without snow. Which led to talking about Christmases spend on vacation in places that didn’t have snow. Then it kind of hit me. Next year I won’t be in Minnesota to celebrate Christmas. Most likely I will be in Nepal! Can you imagine? Mount Everest in the background! Whoa!
When I was asking God if this was really where He wanted me to go, I wasn’t sure. It seemed too selfish, too much of my own dream to be what He wanted. So I told God, if this is where You want me, then You need to provide the way. I asked Him to make it so clear that there could be no doubt that it wasn’t my own desire leading me, but His.
Ok, and I guess, there is a bit more awesomeness I need to share: I got a raise. Not at one job, but two! My babysitting job gave me a $6/hr raise! Also, as a seasonal need, Walmart gave all its employees a $4/hr raise for 3 months! Wow! To my knowledge, that has never happened! And soon, I will start teaching swim lessons again, and last year, when they were asking me to come back, they offered me a raise there too! About $6/hr raise there too! And I got my first two supporters! (Really, three! Thanks God!)
I don’t know about you, but if that isn’t God speaking in favor of me going, then I don’t know what that is!
