It’s about seven weeks till training camp and I’m deep in the process of getting things together and getting all packed! Between prepping for a huge yard sale, bake sale, support letters, t-shirts, and shopping (REI just had a huge sale!!), I’m almost to the point where I feel the stress level going over the peak and about to head down to free sailing! Maayybe, in a month.
It’s really easy to become discouraged. For me, I really feel like I have a lack of home support. Not that they aren’t supportive of my decision, but just a lack of presently being with me through the process. It’s something that I have to take to The Lord, and be reminded that I am truly never alone.
But when I do reach a place of doubt or stress, I put everything on pause and rest in Jesus. I’m so concerned about pleasing Him in everything I do. There’s not one thing, one decision, I want to make without seeking Him first. While it is important to prepare for everything coming up in the near future, He has really been speaking to me about being present wherever He has me. Today is just as important as any day given to me on the world race.
God wants to use us today, right where he has placed us.
Life is more than hobbies, technology, school, work, appointments, tasks, to-do lists…it is learning who you are in Jesus Christ, knowing Him more, becoming who you were meant to be…it is losing your life to find it, loving Him, and loving others more than your own life.
One of my (many) favorite quotes reminds us, “We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.”
So, make the time to feed your soul, to abide in Jesus.
Take time to pour love into the lives around you.
That’s what really matters.
