There are so many things I have hidden away in my closet: Boxes I haven’t opened in years, just taking up space; things that have never been used…and things that are useful, and hold very special memories in my heart. I felt The Lord tug at my heart recently that there are so many things I have that could be used for good, and that it is also time to let go of the things of this world.
“Then Jesus, looking at Him, loved him, and said to him, ‘One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up your cross, and follow Me.” Mark 10:21
Something the Lord is teaching me is that things of this world, material possessions, can all be gone in an instant. They don’t bring joy and and peace. He does. When Christ calls me home, I won’t be bringing anything with me that I’ve collected on this earth. Most of it is just weighing me down from living my life for God to the fullest.
I must let go of earthly things. I must throw off every weight. Any distractions that keep me from serving You, Jesus, must go!
