It’s official, I have been in the Philippines for 9 days. Naturally, I have already fallen in love with the country… I’m sure one could have seen that coming. Here is a little run down of what went down during launch week.
Enjoy!
*Left on a Saturday and arrived on a Monday—totally skipped September 12…weird
*Found out that the Hong Kong’s airport is made on an island of TRASH because they ran out of space on the mainland…interesting.
*Amazingly enough, did not sleep in a tent, had running water, beds, yummy food, fans, and was surrounded by awesome people–80+people, not the norm at all—Kids International MInistries was where we stayed…check them out
*rode my first JeepNey (it’s like a mini bus)
*had leadership training
*Realized that karaoKEing Celine Dion is way to go…My heart will go on for sure.
* eagerly anticipated the arrival of all the racers

*was reunited with my Team—Gozo
* got up at 5:30 a.m. every morning to run with 2 amazing friends
*got to experience a local fast food joint (Jolibees) with UNCLE JEFF (K.I.M. ministries leader) after missing dinner with the squads…he knows how to get things done here in the Philippines!
*met a beautifully, joyful grandma named Josephena when walking the streets.
*played with kids at an orphanage
*hooped it up…felt like I was back at The Bridge playing nonstop knockout with the youth!!
*Actually sawm in a beautiful waterfall and jumped off certain parts of it
All in all, launch week was incredible! We departed this past Sunday for Tondo, Manila, Philippines where will be for the next 3 weeks serving alongside Philippines Christian Foundation (PCF). Brace yourself for some incredible things that are about to happen!!
