I hope y’all had an incredible Christmas and the start of a grand New Year! I know mine has been quite eventful, from spending Christmas with a great family and dear WR teammate to traveling along the border for New Years. It has been extravagant.

This incredible friend surprised me with a breakfast casseorle on Christmas Morning…
she remembered, from the race, that this is my family tradition

Currently I find myself with a sense of excitement, wonder, and expectancy of the unknown for this next year. There are more trails to be blazed, hearts to be captivated and Holy adventurous moments to be had. I want to share one of those Holy adventurous moments that recently happened…

I had the opportunity to go down river (along the Thai/Burma border) to a village that is only accessible via the river, with some dear friends. As we pitched our tents in an old Wat, the moon was brightly shinning, full of life. After a prompting in me by the Holy Spirit, I ventured down to the beach with two of my friends who were already in route.

our ride down river to a Burmese/Thai village…round 2

There I was surrounded by breathtaking beauty. With sounds from the rushing river, I sat there on the finest of sand gazing into the mountainous heart of Burma. I admired the lands beauty with the moonlight shinning its splendor over the place. Masterpiece after masterpiece, I was captivated, transfixed by this magnificent wonder. Romanced once again by our Heavenly Father.

The next day as we sped across the river, my heart was perplexed. In the midst of all this beauty, war was raging. People’s lives were probably being stripped from them that very moment somewhere in Burma; especially, in Kachin and Arakan States. All the while, magnificent splendor was  surrounding them.

I feel heavy. There is a lot on my heart and mind from the more I see along the border and hear from the inside. My heart is expanding more and more for these people and is being pulled towards these Karen/Thai mountain villages, border towns. I am not sure what He is doing inside me, but I will continue to say “yet not my will Lord, but yours be done.” Lead on!
