I thought it would be nice to compile a list of some FUN, RANDOM FACTS about Kenya, espeically Katchibora/Kitale…

1) Ladies are not allowed to show their knees because it is very offenssive. They believe that one is not a Christian if their knees are showing…oops

2) Every time you enter a room, you shake hands with every person in it…even if you were just there ten minutes ago.

3) When saying Hello to most Kenyans they will answer “Fine”. Hmm, I didn’t ask a question.

4) Many times buses will have to stop in the middle of the road for herds of zebras to cross. Incredible!

5) Maize (Corn) is the staple food. Oddly enough, I have had none yet.

6) Ostrishes can indeed be ridden. They are a little awkward though…

7) Like most places, there is African time. If 7:30 a.m. is said, sometimes that translates into 10 a.m.

8) The sun dries clothes as good as a dryer, if not better here.

9) The MilkyWay plus a whole section of stars (galaxies) can be seen here and not in America because of the different hemispheres.

10) The Equator runs right through Kenya

11) To most people, your name is Mzungu (white person).

12) Postcards look like they are from the 1970s.

13) Milking cows is an art that everyone has…even this girl!

14) We have the best men cooks ever who have huge servant hearts.

15) Sometimes small babies think Mzungues want to eat them.

 
16) When driving, the side of the road gets used more than the road.
 
17) Revivals happen all the time–demons caste out and people slain in the spirit.
 
18) Rhinos are pregnant for 3 years
