After three long months in Africa, we have finally landed back in Asia. However, this time, it is a different part of Asia…Ah yes, India. It is refreshing to be in a new place, where the culture is not all too familiar. We are currently in New Dehli located in Northern India. It is quite different because for the last two months, the majority of our teams have been in close proximity. We always seemed to run into other squadmates. Not the case this month since India is so large and in charge! We are litteraly scattered throughout the entire country, from Southern India to Northern. It is a good change!

beautiful Asha…foundation not named after her

This month we are working with a children’s home called Asha Mission (www.ashamission.com). This home has 32 different children ranging from 3 years old to 16. Many of the children come from families where their parents cannot afford to take care of them; however, the parents occassionaly call or the kids go to visit them. One of Asha’s main goals is raising the children up to be leaders in their communities; thus, the children do not get adopted out.

These kids blow me away! They are very well behaved as well as disciplined. Multiple times a day they have worship and prayer sessions. Not only that but a different child leads a Bible study every night. Talk about raising leaders up. Hands down, these kids have more Bible verses memorized than I do! I truely am learning so much from these children!

There are four different care takers. The main house parents are Sarma (sharma) and his lovely wife Susi. They are incredible people who left their jobs as teachers back in November to take over the Mission. Currently they have 2 biological children who are simply adorable! Then there is Rama, who is around my age, and Mina.

It has been incredible thus far being at this wonderful place! Orphanages are one of my passions so I am having the time of my life. During the days I get to play teacher with the kids and help them with their studies. After rest time, yes these children get rest time after lunch which is a brillant idea, we do V.B.S. So we’ve been teaching on the Fruits of the Spirit and having a blast. No joke, every time we go to teach them a new song, they magically know it. I will say it is quite nice because we can just sing all the more!

I am excited to see what the rest of this month entails. Thanks so much for all your support and prayers. Sorry that I have been slacking on the blogs. Interent has not been the best the last three months, but that’s part of going around the world I guess! Until next time…keep sending me love!
