So we are in month 5! A lot of things have happened since I last blogged. Last month Team Meno helped at a church in Viljandi, Estonia for a couple weeks then at a camp outside of Viljandi the last two weeks.
I really enjoyed helping at the camp. We worked with Tinnell and Laley. They and their two kids live at the camp and keep it maintained throughout the year. We helped them get it ready for the summer camps by raking leaves, cleaning the main building, washing windows, etc. Usually they have to do all of this and more by themselves. It was really rewarding to be able to see the work we were completing.
The last couple weeks at the camp were great as a community as well. They usually had the girls and guys doing different jobs. So all of us girls really got to spend some quality time just having deeper conversations as well as lots of laughter. Laley usually worked alongside us. She was such a joy to be around and brought a lot of laughter to us.
As a team we really felt like a family. We stayed at the main building and were able to use a huge camp kitchen and living area. We really lived like a family. We had a cooking and cleaning schedule. We had sit down meals every meal in which we always sat in “our” specific seat. We came together each evening and sat in front of the fireplace to chat about our days and give one another feedback. In a large sense the biggest aspect of the World Race is not ministering to the locals we meet but ministering to our “family”.
Living in Christian community has been one of the biggest lessons I have been learning on the race.
We got to do a couple fun things last month. We got to visit some squadmates in Valga. We made a music video for a squad music video competition at debrief. Hint, hint. Look for the notebook scene. Micah also made another video reviewing what we did last month.
Please enjoy the videos and stay tuned for news about team changes and our new ministry site!
