My Worldrace Timeline (briefly given) May 2006: My Worldrace journey begin in 2006 for me. I had just graduated and I was searching the internet for missions opportunity. I came across the Worldrace and instantly fell in love! I knew that this was what God had planned for me, but I just did not know when…or how. Back then, you had to be a certain age to sign up and I did not fit the bill. However, 11 countries in 11 months did seem scary at the time. I spent a year serving as a youth minister and praying for direction for my life. We took several domestic mission trips around the south and little did I know, the Lord was pruning and preparing me for more. The Lord led me to another mission organization, Praying Pelican Missions and I was on my way to Belize, Central America. That experience changed my life. It was like I received this bill of notice of my life’s calling and purpose: Missions. I became a staff member for PPM for the next few summers, leading trips all over the Caribbean. All the while, the Worldrace was a marble I continuously rolled around in my head. In 2011, I knew that it was time to sit down and apply. {{AKA, emotional roller coaster day}} I turned down Haiti with PPM that summer to prepare and fundraise for my launch in January, 2012.
All the blog stalking and video watching was about to become my reality. Years and years of praying, debating, doubting… was now real. I was about to become- a Worldracer.
October 2011: Training camp…. And I was scrambling to finish fundraising details, departure, packing-the works. All while trying to digest words and phrases like, “process” – “honor” – “transparency” – “feedback” – “heart culture” – “community” – “processing*” – “speak life” – “press in”… whew.
January 10, 2012. Launch. And, I won’t go over all the details: they are in my past blogs.
May 10, 2012. Emergency Medical Flight to the states.
How could years and years of planning, preparing, processing… lead to this? A premature departure?
