I have heard this song my entire life and it goes a little something like this: “Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world! Red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in His sight, Jesus loves the little children of the world!” I still love that song.. And I still have a heart for all children. Here’s just a few reasons why:
When my nephew, Hunter was about five, He and I were having a snack! Hunter looks at me very profoundly and says, “Mayme! I know why God make animal crackers!”
“Why is that Hunter?”
“So that way, all the animals would taste the same!”
Precious! I think about that day every time I see animal crackers. Aw, I love Hunna Bunna!
I love how little minds work. They are so innocent and genuine! They can say the cutest thing! They can also DO some of the sweetest things!
The other day, Justin and I went to swim at his uncle Jeff and aunt Reva’s house. We were all sitting around talking when Dawson and Landon, (Jeff and Reva’s kids, age 11 & 8) came up to me. Landon said, we have something for you and he pulls out a bag full of coins and bills! He said that they both emptied out their piggy bank for me and my trip! I hugged them both and tried not to cry!! It was so, so, so sweet! I was overwhelmed. I could not believe it! There is no telling how long they have been saving up their money and their allowance to get $200 worth! Those boys could have bought a new play station game, legos, or something fun for school! They could have spent their money on ANYTHING but decided to give it toward missions. Wow, even now, I am just speechless. I am so humbled and just in awe.

So many times we overlook a child’s potential and their ability to implicate change and make an impact!
I am reminded of the story in the bible when Jesus wanted to heal the little children but the disciples tried to shun the children away! Jesus replies to let the little ones come unto himself. “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” (Luke 18:16)

I know for me, I wanted to be just like Jesus in that scenario and lavish my love out for Dawson and Landon! They are so young and yet, they are making a huge difference in the lives of orphans all across the globe! Dawson and Landon gave up some special toy for themselves so that another child somewhere else in the world will be fed! Is that not just awesome? This should remind you of how powerful children really can be! They both responded in such a selfless manner. Thank you for teaching me so many things! God can use whoever He wants to further His kingdom, including 8 year olds and 11 year olds! What Dawson and Landon did for me will be a memory I cherish forever. Their kindness and generosity will go with me into the nations. Thank you all and I could not be more proud to have such precious people in my life.
Today, be sure to tell a child that you love them.
Overwhelmed,
