Hola amigos y amigas!
I am writing to you from El Salvador, Central America! I have lived here for about four weeks as apart of the Worldrace program! The Worldrace is an eleven month journey to eleven different countries all around this globe! Guatemala was my first country and I am now serving the second. In a few days, my team of five and I will travel to Honduras. After that, we fly to Europe to Romania and Ukraine. Then, we travel to Africa to Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. Then, we will be heading over to Asia to Cambodia, Malaysia, and Thailand.
While traveling the globe, our mission is to further God’s Kingdom and to bring him glory. Ministry we will be doing is just as diverse as the cultures. Last month, I lived in an orphanage for ten disabled children. We worked in the school, helped with daily tasks of the kids, cleaned and repaired the orphanage and eased the work load of the staff at Los Gozosos. Those are great memories of physical ministry that we did in Guatemala. However, it is the eternal things that I cherish the most. We were able to love on children that had been abandoned majority of their life. We were able to walk the “red light district” and bring freedom to women in prostitution. God used us to speak life into dry and empty bones! (Ezekiel 37:1-14)
In El Salvador, we have been partnering with a brain paralysis hospital with over hundred patients. We help with therapy, feedings and play time. My favorite part is helping them make hand-made paper products from recycled materials. I enjoy singing to the six women in the group every time! I know just spending time with these beautiful people is making an impact for eternity. We also work in a public school with the kindergarteners. Most of the parents are in gangs and these kids may not have good influence at home, much less the Gospel. One day when we were sharing Luke 9:10-17 (5 loaves, 2 fish) and afterwards, a little boy jumped and exclaimed, “Que chivo!” which means, “That’s cool!”.
We also do a street evangelism and prayer walks throughout the capital. People are choosing Christ and stepping into light and life. God is pouring out blessings for these people here and for my team! God is constantly changing our hearts and minds this month. It is hard but worth it! God is a good God!
The brilliant part about all this is that I serve a God who is never changing! He is the same through all of time and He is the same throughout every country! While God is using me to able to do things here in El Salvador, I encourage you to not forget that He is able to do things with you back at home! I urge you to pray and seek the Lord. Allow him to use you for His Kingdom. One way that you can be apart of this ministry is by allowing God to use the resources he has given you. I am asking you to prayerfully consider becoming a financial supporter for this trip. I still need $7,000 total to stay on this race. I have a deadline of $11,000 coming up April 1, 2012. I am currently at $7,633. I have another deadline of the total, $15,000 due by July 1, 2012. Please ask the Lord how you can run your race. I urge you to review Hebrews 12: 1-3. Run the race and never give up. Finances are not the cap to what God can do. Help the nations see, feel, experience the REAL, LIVING God and the miracles, wonders and everyday blessings still do not cap to His abilities. But, how amazing is it if you wanted to be apart of it all. Please make checks out to Adventures in Missions with Amy AM Colley in the memo line and send to
Adventures In Missions, PO Box 534470, Atlanta, GA, 30353-4470
Please also pray about committing to become my prayer warrior. Traveling to these eleven countries is obviously dangerous but the real danger lies in the unseen. (Ephesians 6:12) Pray for us as we enter into this battlefield of spiritual warfare. I need you to cover me and my squad in prayer-every single day. This is not something I take lightly. I have seen the power of prayer. I am asking you to please raise up, step out of your comfort zone and trust the Lord. I go into the field on your behalf. The enemy is furious that we are shining light into his darkness and breaking chains of slavery that he has held captive for so long. This is life changing. This makes a difference. I do not have to use profound words or emotionally baggage to convince you. I have been exposed to the Holy Spirit and I believe in His power. I believe in Holy conviction. I believe that I have to trust, obey and keep doing what He has called me to do
Other specific prayer request: Pray for my fiancé, Justin Allen and I as we are apart this year. Pray for strength and endurance. Pray that we will continue to follow God’s will and commit to obedience. Pray for my family back home and that they will experience God in a new way through this year. Pray for my team’s physical health and safety. Pray for all those we come in contact with over these next nine months. Pray that we submit to God’s will in every circumstance, for everyday.
Finally, another way that you can help is becoming an ambassador for me. Let your friends, family, co-workers know about the Worldrace and the mission that God has called us to be apart of. Let others have opportunity of ministry with this journey for the Kingdom. Get your Sunday school class involved. Spread the word so that your entire church is aware of what the Lord is doing in these 11 countries in 11 months. One great way of staying informed is by subscribing to my blog at amycolley.theworldrace.org. Just enter your email and your friend’s email addresses into the “Subscribe” link under my profile picture!
I want to thank you in advance for your prayers and commitments. God sees your heart and the motives behind your response and He is well pleased. Thank you to those who have already chosen to be apart of this Kingdom work! Thank you and I pray blessings over you!
