My first impression of Honduras!

They have really bad roads….I’m talking cliff hangers! It looks like the roads were victims of sink holes! Pretty scary!

For the first 5  nights in Honduras, we stayed at a beautiful hostel and we just spend time as a squad recuperating from two months of ministry and sleeping on the ground! It was very nice and I enjoyed the luxury. God showed up and pretty much continued to wreck my world…apart from the normal and mundane. We spent our time debriefing about our first two months on the race, our challenges, our celebrations, frustrations and growth. We met our squad coaches, worshipped together, had sessions and dug into the word of God. It was very needed and a great revelation to this new revival.

My thoughts about debrief: It was a  well reserved, movie setting style town with beautiful colors and adorned with flowers…what you might think of a traditional Spanish town: unspoiled and preserved in time.
Loved that my life was spend well inside the cradle of a hammock.
Learned that I really like tilapia fish.
Justin and I worked through some major areas of our life and relationship together during the week.
Loved that I stayed up till 3 just worshipping the Lord one night.

Birds make me laugh hysterically when they imitate laughter…however, I hate them when they greeted the morning with loud swalks at 530AM..
God is teaching me to live in the moment…which is strangely bizarre since I am always living in the past or in the future… challenged me to be more observant, to notice things more and in that process, discover who I am along the way… I am learning how to go on dates with myself.

God is also calling me to go deeper with him… which means to let go and confess my junk …which neither I am looking forward to.
As we left the hostel, we headed out to the capital… the drive was beautiful… rolling mountains… reminded me of the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina…Ironically, There were lots of pine trees here… its weird that they aren’t palm trees… you never realize how much you appreciate the visuals of home until you are no longer able to view them…
Forgotten that Spanish moss existed until I saw it cover the trees,…this reminded me of April and her Valdosta days…
Enjoyed ice cream cone from Pollo Campero.
Extremely friendly people, perhaps the most friendly I’ve ever met here at our ministry site.
Super excited about working with my ministry host, Tony…he is so organized and excited for us.
He cast the vision so well for us and declares that this is our ministry as well… not just his. We take ownership in it. He works directly by faith and really relies on the Lord. “There is no direct plan. You just show up and be amazed at how effective this format really is. It is radically different than our mindsets in the US… it forces us to rely on the Lord, fully and seriously. We need more days like this.”
He has pretty much become a father/administrator/authority/male role model for the street kids here…some who have horrific stories. It is a beautiful representation of Jesus. (Real and tangible) He accepts those who no one else wants or takes time with…
This building we are staying in… it used to be the largest night club in this area… complete with stripper poles and cages still intact and now it become a ministry (because the owner became a Christian and closed it down, despite that it brought in enormous revenue…and that her husband is not a Christian. That’s faith) and now, it is my home for the next 3 weeks.

Prayed, seeked the Lord and had confirmation to move our wedding up to Dec 31, 2012.
