I was listening to a sermon last month and the pastor said something
that caught my attention.

He said, “Every time the love of God enters a room
His presence establishes dominion there.”

Usually when I think about someone establishing dominance it has to do with violence, power and often times fear.

But this statement was ALL about LOVE.

And the POWER that is in this LOVE.

This month in Tanzania my team is spending our time going house to house talking with people about this LOVE that is JESUS.

We speak through our translators because most people here don’t know much, if any, English.

We are walking a lot this month to get to and from or ministry each day.

While we walk, people of all ages stare at us.

Some of them greet us in Swahili and some use the few English phrases they know to say hello.

A lot of them simply stare.
My favorite response to the stare is to smile.

I smile and keep eye contact as long as I can, hoping that they will smile back.

A lot of the time they just keep staring.

But then there are the times that they do smile back.

Sometimes these smiles are shy, like they’re not sure why I am smiling at them.

Other times their smiles are some of the best I have seen.

Genuine joy fills their eyes and their face.

This is when I know that the LOVE that lives in me has ‘Established Dominion.’

My prayer is that it is more than just a smile.

That the LOVE of JESUS that lives in me is truly shining through my eyes and ESTABLISHING DOMINANCE everywhere we walk.

“Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.”
