It is nearly the halfway point of the trip! And, although I
cannot believe that we have been on this crazy journey for five and a half
months already, I also cannot believe that there are still a whole five and a
half months to go. There is this indescribable quality of the World Race in
which time flies by and goes in slow motion all at the same time. One day can
feel like two or three, and a week can sometimes feel like a month. But,
inevitably at the end of every month I can’t believe another country has come
and gone already. It truly is a mystery.

Not only is the race half done, but so is T Squad’s Africa
experience. I have absolutely loved my time here! Last month we were able to
visit each of the ministries that our squad was placed at in Swaziland. There
is this comfortable, kind attribute to Swaziland that makes you feel at ease
and at home instantly. The people are friendly, helpful, and kind. It is a
small country, so you can get the hang of travel pretty quickly (which is a fun
perk).

Our squad took part in a lot of relational ministries there.
Some teams worked with local care points where children came every day to be
fed (as well as receiving other basic needs). Other teams worked with
orphanages, helped build a pre-school, and updated profiles for students with
international sponsors.

Now we are already in Mozambique. So far I have only been in
Maputo, which is in the southern part of the country. I absolutely love this
city though! It’s on the coast, so seafood and fishing is a huge industry. John
and I went to the fish market yesterday and were immediately greeted by a
vendor holding up the biggest crawfish I’ve ever seen. The thing was not only
still alive, but flicking it’s tail hard enough to spray water on me.
Everywhere we went there were huge dead fish staring at us, clams, oysters,
crabs…Any kind of seafood you could want. We got the tour from a local named
Black-Jack! Then, there were restaurants in the back where you could take the
fresh fish that you just bought and have it cooked any way you want. It was a
pretty awesome atmosphere. I’m really glad we got to experience it!

I don’t know what the rest of this month has in store for
us. I’ll be visiting two or three teams at their ministries within the next
three weeks. Being able to see the different outreaches, and take part in their
ministries is such an amazing blessing and opportunity! I can’t wait to see
what God is doing here in Mozambique. J
