After frequent travel for 8+ months straight, forgetfulness becomes more and more common. Some specific areas of memory loss include: what country you are in, what month/year it is, what currency/conversion rate applies to your purchase, and at any given moment what your first name actually is.

In the unlikely event that you find yourself in this unfortunate state of delirium while visiting  southeast Asia, here are some helpful hints to remind you of where you are!
You know you’re in SE Asia when:
-You are parading through traffic in a carriage called a “tuk tuk” that is attacked to a moped.
-You are suddenly the tallest person you know.
-There is a contraption much like a garden hose next to the toilet instead of toilet paper.
-People bow to greet you like Mr. Miyagi.
– Iced coffee actually means sweetened condensed milk with a little bit of instant coffee mixed in.
-The worship band plays an interlude at every transition of the church service that sounds like the intro of an Asian game show.
-The people are incredibly friendly, hospitable, and kind.
-The patented phrase of describing things is, “Same-Same. But different!”
-You eat fresh pineapple off the street for 50 cents every single day.
-Ministry is so rewarding and enjoyable because you can’t help but love the people.
Enjoy your stay! 🙂
