We arrived at Quiche, Guatemala late Tuesday night after a 3 hour flight from Atlanta, Georgia and a 6 hour van ride from Guatemala City. During a torrential downpour our 4 vehicle caravan got stuck in a major traffic jam. Later we found out there had been a mud slide knocking several cars off the road only a mile or so ahead of us. Thankfully the Lord protected us in the storm and we stopped next to a beautiful Guatemalan Christian church. There was a worship and prayer service going on and we were welcome to join.
It was such a powerful experience to be sitting in on a Spanish service our very first night. Although I didn't know what was being said, the love of Jesus needs no translation. The women up front, although quite small, prayed BIG prayers. When we finally arrived to Agape in Action, were greeted by sweet Sally and her husband Erv. Upon our arrival they informed us that our campsite had flooded due to the heavy rains and we would be staying in bunks with electricity and running water. Praise the Lord! I can honestly say I’m not sure if I was just quite ready for an entire month of “roughing it” after the week spent at Training Camp in Gainesville, Georgia only one short month ago. Instead we are 17 girls in 2 rooms, sharing 1 bathroom 🙂
Tomorrow is Guatemala’s Independence Day, then Monday we start ministry. More to come!
Love y’all!!!
