Several weeks before the Race I was surfing Amazon for some much needed supplies. As I browsed through suggested gear, I stumbled across the much raved about ExOfficio underwear. For those who are not familiar, these babies are pretty sweet. The package claims “17 countries, 6 weeks. One pair. (Or maybe 2 ;).” In the store they run approximately $20-$40 per pair, craziness! Online they were $12-$16. I put 5 pairs in my cart along with several other items. Before clicking purchase, I looked up to the ceiling and said, “It’s going to be funny to see how you provide for this one Lord.”
Less than 24 hours later a dear friend had offered to take me out to dinner. During our meal my friend suddenly got really quiet. She looked up at me and said, “This may seem really silly, but I feel like I’m supposed to offer to buy your underwear for the Race. I mean I know that’s really weird. If there’s something else you need more, I can totally get that instead. I just really felt led to offer to buy you some good underwear. I mean, I just don’t think Target brand is gonna cut it.”
This dialogue continued for some time while I just sat across from her, jaw dropped, in total awe. In that short time, the Lord had stirred my friend’s heart and I would now be all set. I don’t know why this was so shocking. This is only one of many insistences where the Lord totally showed up!
Three months later He is still showing up and making HIS provision known. The other day our two teams stared blankly at the bare cupboard wondering what we were going to eat the rest of the week. Later that night we were invited to go to a woman’s house to watch Francis Chan: Multiply Movement and were asked to bring snacks. Scrounging to find anything worthy, we took a few small items to share. When we arrived, a spaghetti dinner complete with salad and garlic bread was served!!! After our time together the ladies suggested we take home all the left overs. Looking at our pantry now, you would have never guessed less than 24 hours before we had literally nothing to eat. God is so cool, whether it’s food (or underwear ;)… when you allow Him to work in your life, He shows up!
Food a plenty!!!
