Hey y’all!
Welcome to this crazy adventure of The World Race(TWR)! For my first blog I wanted to share why I decided to join TWR and why I choose this specific trip.
In the fall of 2017 I knew it would be my last year living in Norway , but I wasn’t sure of what my next steps would look like. It seemed like the things I looked into didn’t work out for one reason or another. All I knew is that I longed for more. More time with my family, more exploring different cultures and seeing more of Gods creation, and more of serving and blessing people who don’t necessarily think they deserve to be loved.
I first heard of TWR from a friend who knew someone on the race. I though man that’s some crazy stuff! At that time I couldn’t imagine going from place to place for eleven months ( I really hate packing and unpacking). Then later that year during my first trip to Cambodia I met a girl who did a gap year in the same village I was working in, to be honest I didn’t think too much of it and that was that. Fast forward two years and I came across TWR through an Instagram Advertisement (really, of all places?). I went on their website and looked through some information, but upon seeing the cost I quickly hit the X on my screen. Little did I know that all these small instances were just planting seeds waiting for the right moment.
Later on, in April I decided to go on TWR website again and see how it all worked. I learned that there are different trips you can choose from with different countries and regions as a focus. My heart dropped when I came across the unscripted route. The first country on the list was Cambodia, and if you know anything about me you know how much my heart yearns for Cambodia. As I continued to read through some of the other countries my excitement grew. I had these small puzzle pieces of places I wanted to do ministry in and I had no idea how they would coincide. Upon reading this list of countries and reading a bit more I knew this was it. All the pieces started to come together.
You guys, this wasn’t my plan at all! I look back and see how God was giving me pieces and I was so focused on a plan. I love lists, plans, and things going according to those things and I take my piece and run with it. Then I look beside me and notice I’m running alone. God wants to walk with us in our future and cares about our desires and has such amazing plans for us. This trip is just an example of how much God cares and is so involved in our lives. Everything from the though of TWR ,the finances of it to the very people I will meet are all apart of something greater and so much bigger than me or you. All I can say is I will take the steps and do what I can and wait for God to do the rest.
