Man oh man!! Where do I even start ? Since my last blog I have: arrived in Cambodia, finished training camp and am currently in Kampot with my team. In case you missed my update on Facebook , I am one of the four women in my all girls group. We are precious and super sweet, which is ironic because our team name is C.A.K.E (Cari, America, Kaelyn and Emily) .

I want to share with you a bit more about the heart of my route. We are the “unscripted” route and basically everything we do is different than a traditional route. Other routes have hosts aligned so when they come in to a country they will know where they will be living and what ministries they will be working with. For unscripted we will choose where to go in each country as we go and as we feel lead. For example, now we have a team that prayed and felt like they should go to Battambang, two groups are in Siem Reap and again we are in Kampot. While this was what I expected for our route, my highlight was hearing the vision and understanding the why behind unscripted.

“Ministry is life and life is ministry” that’s our motto for the year and hopefully for the rest of our lives. To be honest, when I heard this motto my first thought was “ that sounds exhausting”.  I took a day to think and process through this idea. Thinking about my friends who have experienced burn out, and the exhaustion I personally have experienced living my idea of ministry. I can remember going home for the summer and doing absolutely nothing because that’s all I had capacity for. I realized that the way I perceived ministry was not sustainable for me when thinking long term, it is not a lifestyle I could maintain. What if ministry looked different? What if in the midst of my normal or day to day life I was intentional about the people around me? What would it look like to have my entire life as ministry regardless of what country I am in or what organization I am working with? I don’t even know what that fully looks like, but I have some time to figure it out. I have a God who loves me, gives me grace to make mistakes and wants to adventure with me.

For now, I am living day by day and loving the people around me. I have enjoyed getting to know my team and being able to be transparent and vulnerable with them. Some days I feel like I am not doing enough and other days are busy. Regardless, I am so thankful for each day God meets me where I am. I am pretty excited to continue to learn from the people around me and to encounter The Creator by embracing His creation.

Be blessed, and until next time friends!!
