What does a week look like for my team and I? Each morning begins with devotionals starting between 6-7 with the whole squad everyone has time to eat breakfast and get ready for ministry. We eat Gallo Pinto, and eggs for breakfast, and then the squad starts heading out to ministry. Lunches are either PB&Js or ham and cheese sandwiches with chips and an apple. On Monday is activation and deep cleaning of the house. Each team has jobs and is responsible for their part of the house and their room. Activation is normally a teaching from one of the base staff and getting a chance to act on what we learned, whether that be listening prayer, or walking through a process of healing, physically and emotionally. Tuesdays my teams heads to a community center that host a variety of classes and activities for people in their community. From 9-12 we are teaching classes about basic gardening, theatre, and painting. Then we have a lunch break till 1, after we have a practicing conversational English class till 3, and from 3-4:30 kids come and play games with us and just hang out after school. On Wednesdays and Thursdays we start our morning going to an underprivileged community to just love on kids, we do a bible lesson, with a craft, or games that my team created. It’s a great opportunity to just love on the kids. We go home for lunch and around 2 we go out to work with a group of Germans, called Metro Ministry and help them run a VBS till 5:15 ish, and then we go home just in time for dinner. Friday mornings we have been spending time planning for the classes and lessons, then in the afternoon we go with the Metro team to go one of their newer community for a VBS, mostly just playing and loving the kids. Saturdays are our off days where we can plan whatever we want. Included so far is the markets, downtown San Jose, and Fossil Land (zip lining, cave exploring and an interesting superhero character). Sundays are our Sabbath, we spend the day resting and just spending time recharging.
