You know those moments when you’re struggling with something and you decide to just open up your Bible to a random chapter hoping (and sometimes praying) that God will use it to speak to you. I had one of those times the other day. I’ve been feeling anxious and a bit down lately because of a combination of things. One of the things I’ve been struggling with is not having gotten many donations lately. That’s something I struggle with a lot. I have times where God provides a bunch of money to go toward my trip. Then there are other times when there’s hardly any money being donated toward my trip.
I opened my Bible to Psalm 27. I was hoping for something related to waiting on God’s timing. I started reading and didn’t feel like it was really hitting home for me. It was talking about God’s protection. That is absolutely important and a blessing! I’m not trying to say that it’s not. It just wasn’t what I was looking for at the moment. Despite that I continued to read the chapter. It was what I turned to, so I wanted to finish it. There are 14 verses in Psalm 27. You know which verse spoke to me the most? Verse 14, the last verse in the chapter. It seemed to come out of nowhere. It was exactly what I had been hoping for when I opened my Bible.
Psalm 27:14 says, “Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord” (NLT).
I had to read all the way to the end of the chapter to see that verse. I could have given up on reading that chapter when it didn’t seem like it was what I was looking for, but then I would have missed that verse. I might have started randomly flipping to other chapters and not found something like that. I needed to follow through to the end. Things are like that in our lives. We could give up, but we would miss what God has in store for us at the end. But that’s another topic I could talk about and not my main focus for this post.
Fundraising and getting ready for The World Race works on patience, faith, guidance, and so much more. I want things to happen in my timing. I know that God’s timing is so much better, but that doesn’t stop me as a human from wanting things when I want them. Please pray that God will increase my faith and help me trust in His timing.
Thank you all so much for all of your support! God has put some great people in my life! I’m at $6,820 out of $17,700 for the trip. That means that I still need $10,880. If you would like to partner with me, you can use the orange donate button on the right side of the page near the top to give. I hope you are all healthy and doing well. God bless!
