Laughter
Adventure days always seem to turn into more of an adventure than expected. Even when they don’t initially feel like adventure days at all.
Saturday, the plan was just to walk to a mall a few miles away from our home. It was going to be a chill day, walk there, walk back, get some exercise.
On the way to the mall I filled the time by racing Jonathan…
(won every time-can you tell I’m competitive?)
and doing curls with my water bottle…
(exercise right?)
Jonathan and Josue…
(Josue is Pastor Gregorio’s son and Jonathan is Josue’s son)
were making fun of me for it but then soon joined in as Emma gave us different exercises to try. At one point we stopped to pick some fruit off a tree on the side of the road
(Idk how to describe it besides a grape-sized sour pear?)
We were just enjoying the freedom of walking around seeing the community outside of ours.
We got to the mall, walked around for a little bit and continued on toward a park that was suggested further from the house.
We arrived at the park and were all in different conversations just hanging out when Josue pointed to a huge dark cloud headed our way. We began to walk home when the rain started. We stopped at a Dunkin Donuts (of all places) to try to wait it out but after a while waiting we just decided to walk the last 2ish miles in the rain.
It was so fun. While the rest of our group was having really good intentional conversations, Emma and I joked with Jonathan and Josue.
We pretended to push each other into puddles, splashing each other with puddles that kind of stuff.
At one point this father/son duo starts to do different goofy hairstyles on themselves since their hair was soaked. Before I knew it I was watching Emma create the same hairstyle on herself and it was one of the funniest things I think I’ve ever seen. We were all cracking up and just being really goofy that whole walk home and it was just super fun.
Sometimes the race can seem really serious and hard because there’s so much to grow in and process. It was so wonderful to have an afternoon of laughter and just goofy joy!!

Dad, I’m fine (:
