So it’s been a month since the end of training camp and I learned so much from the wise teachings. If anyone has questions about any of these contact me. Please. I’d love to share what I’ve learned in more detail and the formatting of this should lead to discussion since there isn’t a ton of explanation (: Also, this is not an exhaustive list of what we talked about or what I learned but I hit a lot of the main points!

  • Following Jesus involves Sacrifice. We have to give up what we have to get what He has for us.
  • We can’t effectively follow Christ alone, that’s why he designed the Church.
    • Every part of the church body is important
    • I have an OBLIGATION to use the gifts the Lord has entrusted to me and YOU DO TOO
  • God knows we aren’t perfect and doesn’t expect us to be. We can’t form intimacy with him by constantly apologizing for what we haven’t done. We form intimacy by continuing to pursue it.
  • Unforgiveness will wreck your heart
    • It multiplies
    • Jesus’ death on the cross is enough to cover other people’s sins against you too.
    • Forgiveness is a choice we have to make repeatedly
  • The Holy Spirit
    • What’s in the Bible is the LEAST God can do
    • We can EXPECT his promises
    • Do we give the Holy Spirit visitation right to our lives or habitation rights? Does He have access to our whole lives or just the bits and pieces we allow?
    • Jesus invites us to come along side him in ministry but we have to allow the Holy Spirit to work through us
  • Healing comes in levels
    • It’s okay to be readdressing issues from the past
  • Emotional Maturity is a choice
    • Emotions lead us to the spots that need to be healed
    • Compartmentalizing emotions is a false sense of control
  • Truth- God’s truth is eternal while ‘individual’ truth is fickle
    • Obedience (to that truth) releases the power of God
    • We’re always either ‘obeying’ ourselves or God
    • God’s word is the anchor for truth
  • God speaks: directly-through His word-through people
    • Conviction vs Condemnation/Guilt vs Shame
      • Conviction/guilt lead us to repentence- growth
      • Condemnation/Shame makes us hide and leads to destruction
    • Sometimes we interpret God’s promptings incorrectly- misunderstandings happen in relationships- learn from it and move on
    • Always test a word from God
      • S.criptual?
      • T.estimony of believers? (wise counsel)
      • U.plift Christ?
      • F.ruit? does it produce life or death?
      • F.ulfillment? if something predicted doesn’t actually happen then it wasn’t from Him
    • Search out God in humility and community
  • Discipleship
    • Must be intentional
    • The goal is to teach people so that they can teach people- Multiplication/exponential growth
