Guys, it’s been a hot second since I’ve blogged. And SO MUCH has happened!!! I’ll bullet point to catch up and then hopefully start sharing stories again.
Nicaragua was incredible.
The ministry
The heart behind the ministry
The locals
Our hosts
Reap Granada
I could go on and on about how much I loved every moment in Nicaragua.
At the same time Nicaragua was a lifetime ago already.
-We had debrief where it was announced that I’m now a raised up squad leader. What does that mean? Basically my role has shifted. I’m still racing, a lot of my life on the World Race will remain the same but some new responsibilities have been added. I am a part of Team Two Hunned with my partner in crime Racer Rach and as part of our role we travel amongst the other teams so we’ll be switching it up each month.
-We traveled for 3 days from Nicaragua, to Miami, to Portugal, to Cote d’ivoire
-In Cote D’ivoire we lived on the top floor of a concrete apartment building for a couple of weeks with team Tidal Wave
-We were part of a ministry that reaches out to Muslim truckers from neighboring countries and shares the gospel with them. They then disciple new Christians and share stories with them on a regular basis while they wait for their shipments to arrive. The cool part of this ministry is that those new Christians are then eventually going home to majority Muslim countries that are hostile towards Christianity. We saw a ton of new brothers and sisters added to the kingdom and it was incredible.
-We spent one week out in a village with team Ronel evangelizing and experiencing life in a rural village. We lived in a clay hut with no electricity. This is where we spent Christmas 2017 (: and it was awesome. We got to bring Christmas gifts out to the team and make their Christmas special and We got to Carol with the children all around the village.
-We’ve been training for this new role of squad leader with our current squad leader alpal and we’ve talked about a lot of really challenging stuff. Let me tell you, self-reflecting is not always fun, especially not in bulk!
-We had an LDW weekend in Ghana where we grew, learned, battled Malaria (not me specifically) and rang in the New Year as a squad (complete with solar lantern-ball drop)
-We sent our one and only squad leader back to the states. More than grateful for all she’s done for our squad.
-We have settled in with our hosts in Ghana for the month (I am with team Oaks of Righteousness in Accra)
-That’s already a lot of stuff and I’m sure I’m missing a lot
The World Race has gotten really real for me in this season and I know that the trajectory of my life is shifting again too. I feel unsettled but assured that this whole thing is worth it.
The last six-ish weeks have been a whirlwind and I can’t believe I’ve already lived over a month of my life in Africa!
I cant believe we have started month SIX OF THE WORLD RACE. We’re basically at the half way point. What is life?
Sorry it took a while for the update dad (and all others who were worried)- I have not been kidnapped in Africa…
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, All the things!
I’m good (:
