So, I feel like I had a unique journey in fundraising and in that the Lord taught me a few different lessons.
First, I’m pretty sure I was the final person to join V-squad (I accepted at the end of April). Because I had such a small amount of time to fundraise I wasn’t sure if it was possible- I essentially needed $5,000 in a couple of weeks and most people had no idea I was even considering going on this trip. The Lord provided. By the time we had training camp a month later I had one of the highest amounts raised.
Two things from that:
1. The Lord showed me how faithfully he provides. Like $13,000 in a month. That’s insane. That’s beyond anything I could have ever imagined. I never lived as if I saw the Lord as my provider so it was humbling to see him meet me in that place and come through BIG.
2. Looking back, part of me took pride in the fact that so much money came in so fast. I knew that there was no way anything I had done resulted in that support but I started to think about how cool it was going to be when I was the first person to be fully funded.
And then nothing. For a couple of months not a single donation. I thought the Lord was teaching me that my pride had consequences And it was time to be humbled. Turns out he was just waiting for the opportunity to teach me AND my teammates a bigger lesson.
I started to get some more donations when one night Taylor asked us where we all were concerning fundraising. There were 3 of us on my team who were not fully funded, but none of us were really worried about it. We knew the Lord would provide and we still had a couple of months to get the final amount.
She prayed in boldness, even though we weren’t in urgent need of the funds, that the necessary funds would be raised quickly. I didn’t really think much about it because, I really wasn’t worried about it. But she ASKED. She asked the Lord to provide.
I went to get wifi a couple of days later and saw an email that my final amount had been donated. ALL OF IT. THE MORNING AFTER WE PRAYED FOR IT. $3,000!!! WHAT?!
Now being able to see how the whole story worked out I can see that the Lord wasn’t holding out. He wasn’t punishing me for my pride. He was working out His perfect timing to encourage not ONLY me but my team and squad!
How cool!
He showed us that he loves us, HEARS our prayers, and ANSWERS them.
He desperately wants to give us good things. Great things! He’s not holding back or looking for ways to test us or give us trials. He uses those things to grow us but His heart is to bless us abundantly so that we can bless others and share His goodness.
All that being said I AM FULLY FUNDED and Lord willing, I will continue this journey all the way through Indonesia!! PRAISE!!
Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey financially and through prayer. You’re all amazing and I hope you’re encouraged by the experiences the Lord has blessed me with.
There are still ways to contribute and get involved so if you’re interested email me at [email protected]
Love always,
Dad, I’m fine! 😉
