Almost every little girl dreams of the day she marries her prince charming. She dreams about what her dress will look like, all the twinkling lights, and the perfect location. Then throughout the rest of her teen years that dream and goal comes closer to reality. If I’m real honest, Pinterest boards for our wedding is a very real thing and we often fantasize about the perfect day and the perfect guy.
Over the last few weeks I’ve been doing sessions with one of my squad leaders, Taylor. If there’s one thing you should know about her she is an amazing woman of the Lord who walks in strength, wisdom, and humility.
Anyways, we have been doing these sessions once a week gaining tools and understanding, along with gleaning wisdom. I have officially titled it Jesus is Your Husband.
This title fits our discussions and weekly “tasks” well. My favorite part about it has been the process of falling more in love with Jesus.
Have you ever known someone for a long time, you’ve talked back and forth, and hung out a few times but you haven’t actually gotten to KNOW the person? That’s how it felt before coming on the race. I knew Jesus but I didn’t KNOW Him.
Over the last 6 months I’ve been hanging out and getting to KNOW the Lord more and more. Falling in love with Him, and learning to trust and follow without question.
Yep, I am not perfect. Yes, I mess up and don’t trust Him sometimes. Yeah, it’s ok to fail cause He is gentle, patient, and ever so gracious with me. He is always there to catch me, pick me up, and hold my hand as we walk through this thing called life.
So now, as I see it, we are walking towards a deeper more intimate commitment. You could say we are engaged.
It’s a process, it’s hard, we have to walk through a lot of baggage, hardships, and past wounds, but is so worth it.
Jesus is really the best thing that ever happened to me. He loves me unconditionally. He protects, guides, and patiently walks with me. He is my comfort. He likes to spoil me. He loves giving me good gifts and blessing me.
All He asks of me in return is that I love Him and others, tell our story, and follow Him commandments to the best of my human abilities. We have had a lot of ups and downs but He is so faithful even when I’m not.
I couldn’t ask for a better person to guide me and walk me through life and I can’t wait for the years to come. I’m excited to see who He brings into our life and how it all plays into His perfect plan and will for the rest of my life.
When I was 12 I dedicated my life to Jesus, but a lot has happened since then. So the two of us are renewing our “vows” within the next week or so. I’m getting baptized. Yeah!!! I am so excited to continue on this journey with the most perfect man to ever walk the earth.
