There comes a time on the race when you realize that the community that you live in 24/7 is perhaps more transforming and life-changing than the places that you go and the people that you’re ministering to. The teammates that you are with (whether they want it or not) have the blessing of walking alongside you through some of your ugliest moments, as well as celebrating with you in some of your best!

Meet Brooke and Pablo Chavez

The Chavez’s met at a discipleship school back in 2005, married in 2011 and have had quite the journey since then! Pablo is from Mexico, and Brooke hails from Delaware (which is where they both lived before the race). I’ve been blessed to be on a team with these two for going on 6 months now! We have been together from the beginning! The passion that they carry and the love that they so graciously share are things that I have so desperately needed to see. Brooke has become somewhat of the older sister that I never had. She is hilarious, and compliments my sass. She is a dynamic worship leader, who belts on behalf of Jesus and can go crazy on the guitar! Her joy is contagious, but even beyond that, her desire to listen and be obedient to the Lord’s leading in her life is inspiring. This girl’s got wisdom. Her husband, Pablo, is quiet and gentle. He is always humbly looking for ways to serve others, and he carries a spirit of peace everywhere he goes. His eyes light up when he talks about the things the Lord has been teaching and growing in him. A prayer warrior, He faithfully looks to the Lord to provide his daily needs.

Being a married couple on the race means that they need to raise twice the amount of support that I do (aka over 32,000 dollars)! They need about 9,000 more dollars to be fully funded. And, in a few days, Pablo will actually head back to the states for about two weeks in order to get things squared away for his visa to South Africa (which has been quite the ordeal). Please pray about supporting them!
