Can I just say that I already LOVE my squad? Because I do! They’re the best!

I’ll tell you now that I was super nervous about meeting my squad, the people I’m going to be spending all day, every day with for ELEVEN months! Thoughts kept running through my mind- worrying if they would like me, or if we would get along, or if we’d have anything in common, etc etc etc. And all of that worrying was for nothing, of course! God knows whats going on, he knows each and every one of us and we were placed in this squad together for a reason. This past week me and the crew have been messaging each other constantly, we’ve had group skype dates, sent each other texts, made plans to get together if at all possible before training camp and our launch date. I can see how well we’re already connecting with each other and its amazing! They’re having the same worries that I am, whether it be about connecting and relating, to how in the world we’re going to stuff everything we need for 11 months into one backpack!

We’re all going through different things in our lives right now, we’re all in different places, but at the same time we’re all connected by this wonderful, terrifying, crazy adventure that we’re fixing to embark on together. That fact alone brings us closer. I think its amazing how quickly we’ve becoming a team and a family. We pray for each other, we joke around together, we talk about how crazy and amazing this journey is going to be and about what we hope to learn or what kinds of lessons God is wanting to teach us. It’s going to be great, in fact, it’s already pretty fantastic!

One example of how awesome we are is this. The other day we were all in our group message when we get a picture from Anna and she says that this is something we have to look forward to (picture below):

What are my first thoughts when I see this picture? “Um how in the world are we supposed to use that!?!” And so that’s exactly how I responded which started this huge discussion about how to use what we’ve now dubbed as the Squatty Potty. I think I’m going to need to start practicing my squats. I know, too much information, but it’s true! After that one of my other teammates, Carlos, came up with #SquatSquad (I’m having to learn how to hashtag things because apparently that’s a big deal nowadays and my squad mates love it!) but how great is that? I laughed so hard when I first read it, it’s brilliant! It may very well become our unofficial (or maybe even official) name for our squad. Personally, I’m in! I think it’s great and makes me smile every time I see someone write it. If you haven’t noticed, we have some pretty interesting conversations, I can only imagine how it will be once we’re all living together. Now, if you know me, then you know I can be a bit goofy, random and crazy. If you don’t know me, then you will soon figure it out through these blogs! But I’m thinking that considering how our conversations have been going so far, I’m going to fit right in! Woohoo!

I really am getting more and more excited about this trip as the days pass and as I get to know my team more. Each time I get an alert that one of them has sent a message my heart feels like its going to explode because I’m so happy and excited! It’s going to be so great to see God working in our lives individually, but especially as a team and seeing how God works in each others lives. I can’t wait to get to know them even more over the next 2 years!
