We arrived in padre las casas after an hour drive in the back of a truck. It is such a beautiful place, we are in the mountains, and it reminds me of home. We were surprised when we saw where we would be staying. It was an apartment with three rooms, a bathroom, a stove, and even a fridge. I had never expected it to be so nice. Pastor Meco met with us as soon as we got here to explain what we would be doing this month.

For this month, we are working with pastor Mecos church doing Sunday school lessons. We are also working at a school teaching English, and Art. The school we are working at is a school where kids who are sponsored by Compassion Ministries go. There they receive a better education and at least one meal a day. I love working with these kids they bring such joy with there beautiful smiles. I personally am helping with the Art classes. We have made hand puppets and Noah’s ark they love it but I think I love it more.

We are also blessed to be able to help in the kitchen everyday. Doing things such as: Making meals, cleaning, and handing out the food. The ladies are so sweet and it always makes my day. In fact one of my favorite days so far was spent peeling a ton of boiled eggs. I loved it.

We’ve already had some crazy but fun memories, such as:
Are house flooding four times in one day, to a normal person this might have been upsetting but not to us. We had so much joy mopping our floors over and over as we laughed about it. The lights go off more than they stay on. It’s not a problem cause we just have a dance party in the dark.  I have tried food that I still don’t really know what it was, but it was some of the best food I’ve ever had. I tried to make beans but did something terribly wrong and they smelled like sewer. It was more funny than I can explain. Also, on day three my computer screen got cracked and is no longer usable. You always are taking that risk bringing something on the race so it’s ok I still have a phone at least.

Anyways, I have loved every moment here so far. My team is amazing I love working beside them. We are so blessed with what we have. Also, with the people here in Padre las casas they are so nice and helpful. Maje is are translator she is already such a close friend she is so helpful and we love her.  One of are biggest blessings is pastor Meco, he has been here for us whenever anything goes wrong. He is always checking on us and worrying about little things like if we eat enough. He is awesome. I thank God for letting us be here. I will try and write another blog soon. 🙂
