Anyone who knows me knows that I love to travel and that it’s something that I am very passionate about. I believe that God created this earth for His’ children to enjoy while being here on this planet and I love the experiences that I get to have while I am here. From Guatemala to London to Chicago to Louisiana, I want to see it all. God has placed this passion within my heart to go and see the world, but He has also placed a passion in my heart to love others as He has loved me. Even though there is hurting and pain right here in my own community I believe God has called me to go around the world to spread His love. Everyone has a different calling in their lifetime, but whatever God calls you to is what you are supposed to do. Whether you are to go 1 mile down the road or 2000 miles around the globe, if God has called you to go saying no is a lot riskier then going. If God says go,you go. If God says yes, you accept. If God says no, you accept. God gave me a yes, so I am going. I know a lot of you may not even really understand what I am doing, but next July I will be embarking on a 11 month journey to 11 different countries, which is the World Race. The World Race is a branch off of the organization, Adventures In Missions sending people ages 21-35 years old out into the world to share the love of Christ. The countries that I will be going to are South Africa, Swaziland, Mozambique, India, Nepal, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua!
I first heard of the World Race 3 years ago, but at the time I was only 18 years old. 3 months ago I was in my hometown, Knoxville, TN for one of my friend’s weddings sitting in a local coffee shop, K Brew. My sister, Marissa, was at the time on a trip with Adventures in Missions in Swaziland, Africa. I was searching the website looking for her blog when I came across looking at World Race routes, dreaming of what it’d be like to be able to go on one. In that moment I realized that I am now 21 years old, which means I am now old enough to actually go on the World Race. There in that little coffee shop the Holy Spirit called me to go. As I was sitting there drinking a 4 dollar iced latte I realized that I can’t keep wasting money on things that in no way further advance my Father’s Kingdom. As much as I love going to coffee shop after coffee shop I can’t sit there comfortably any longer knowing that there are people in this world who may never know the love of Christ if I don’t get out of my chair and do something about it. I can’t sit there knowing that people are suffering and just assume that there are people already out there on the mission field telling them about Jesus’ love. If I sit there comfortably knowing that, then I myself have missed the whole point of my existence. God has called me to go and do something about it, so I must go.
I will appreciate any support that anyone can give me from financial needs to prayer to being there for me when I need someone to talk to about it all. This is just my intro blog about why I am doing this and what got me to do this. I will write my next blog in the next week or so on how you can do your part and support me. I thank you so much for taking the time to read this and being interested in what God is doing in my life. I ask for as many prayers as you can give for me during this time and know it is appreciated.
“ 1 The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
2 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn “
Isaiah 61:1-2
